It's In The Air

Aaaahhh, my fall garden is planted, and it's starting to cool enough to be invigorating. I can feel some creative flow kicking in, and it's a good thing, b/c it's going to be another "homemade Christmas" around here. Beware, if you're on my "trading list" for Christmas, it'll most likely be a homemade gift. I'm so OVER the commericalized Christmas, and am ditching our culture's greed for the simpler things. In the coming weeks I look forward to afternoons of basket weaving, sewing PJ's for my younger children, making soaps, lotions, candles, and creating stamped cards with the kids.

How's the freshness of Fall inspiring you?

Well, I'm going green this Christmas. Yes thats right, only eco friendly, organicaly grown, fueled by corn, hand spun and the like for me. I will also only be using ONE square of toilet paper per use.
So I guess you can see that this hint of fall is reminding me that somewere in Crawford Texas President Bush is oiling his weather machine prepared to blast us with a cat 5 hurricane that will destroy all southerners because we are dumb, and all people with brown hair just for the heck of it.
Thats what fall has done for me!

I share your sentiments. If you want to get some real distance between you and AmericanXpressmas, remember that the Christmas season does not Begin until December 25th. It does not end until January 6th (Feast of the Epiphany). Keep this season, and you will definitely miss out on the "pre-Christmas" hype. The proper name of the season leading up to the Feast of Our Lord's Nativity is Advent, and it is slightly penitential in character (we are preparing not only to celebrate Christ's initial Advent, we are getting ready, steeling ourselves, to embrace the next one).

NOW you know why you wear black for Advent!

(inside joke)

Yes and the Friday after Thanksgiving is called "black Friday" because of the exponential propitiation of pentinental advents that circumvent the world around us.

OK...So I'm just using big words to look cool...somebody help me...anybody?

How fun. Now that school has started my creativity will pick back up around Christmas break!

Please excuse my daughter Missy. She had the runs during the night and now it seems to be spewing from her mouth! Yes, the SAME daughter who told her brother on Wednesday that the coyote he saw came back for dessert! His old, faithful beloved dog Dakota went missing this summer...Missy thinks the coyote ate him for dinner. Now her brother has a cute little puppy... a.k.a. dessert!

Now to address the question about what does fall make me do? Plant mums, set out bails of hay, corn stalks, pumpkins and gourds. I also pulled out the John Denver music this morning. I also start making homemade soups. The first day of fall means John Denver and vegetable soup. Pappy has the old trailer with sides on it back over here at the house, so I think he's thinking about hay rides pulled by the 4 wheeler when the grandkids come.
Ahh yes, I love fall!
PS - Could I be the receipient of a fall candle...soon, please! I'll even pay you in something other than corn husks.

I'm going to crank up the candle making in a few days. Will pass along a "Pumpkin Pie".

Missy, THAT's what a lack of adult conversation will do to a gal.
